Inspired by the season, Kingsbridge Retirement Community set out to Spread the Cheer to isolated seniors in the Kingston region. We partnered with VON, Meals on Wheels, to deliver care packages filled with wonderful things and warm remindings that these seniors are being thought about at this time of year. We were thrilled to receive incredible support from Kingsbridge residents, family members, staff and Kingston community members and businesses. Everyone wanted in on this opportunity to deliver a bag full of gifts to each isolated senior.
Our original goal was to create 240 bundles with $20 worth of items in each. We received such amazing support that we were able to increase the value of goods in each package significantly. 100% of each donated dollar went towards the contents. At the last minute of fundraising, we received pledges to be donated to the Meals on Wheels program, helping seniors get daily nutritional meals delivered to their doorstep. We are proud of all that we have accomplished with this initiative.
Each gift package contains: reusable canvas bag, warm winter gloves, cloth face mask, comfy non-skid socks, handy notebook, pen, magnifying glass, yummy shortbread cookies, delicious hot chocolate, hand sanitizer, soothing hand lotion, calming Dove soap, moisturizing lip balm, $10 coffee gift card and cheerful holiday greeting card to let the senior know that we hope that cheer comes to them when they receive our present.
